Schleiermacher''s remarkably influential programme pioneered the structure and content of the theologicalcurriculum and laid the groundwork for theology''s historicization. Zachary Purvis offers a comprehensive investigation of Schleiermacher''s programme through the era''s two predominant schools: speculative theology and mediating theology.
