This Handbook draws together in a single volume an in-depth set of essays addressing the phenomena of marginalization in the Bible and in the Bible’s ancient Near Eastern and Greco-Roman contexts.The volume explores three axes of marginalization: bodily (sensory impairments; communicable illness; mobility impairment; intellectual impairment; gender non-conformity), social (cultic marginalization; women; children; elderly; outsiders); and economic (poverty; enslaved people; taboo professions; carceral bodies). Each category of marginalization is further subdivided with two essays, one on the Hebrew Bible and one on the New Testament.
