    Beskrivning

Advances in Design of Microbial Cell Factories presents a comprehensive overview of the latest innovations in engineering microbial platforms for sustainable production of biochemicals, biofuels, pharmaceuticals, and industrial enzymes.

The book opens with an introduction and historical overview of microbial cell factories, followed by a wide spectrum of topics including omics-driven design and engineering of microbial cell factories, metabolic flux analysis, genome-scale metabolic modeling, modular pathway engineering, biosensors, adaptive laboratory evolution, protein engineering and enzyme optimization in microbial hosts. The latest developments in designing bacterial, yeast, mold and microalagae cell factories are covered, as well as current challenges to be considered in scale-up of microbial cell factories. Chapters are supported by real-world case studies that demonstrate translation from laboratory research to industrial-scale applications across a diverse range of sectors.

This reference consolidates foundational knowledge with emerging technologies, equipping researchers, graduate students, and industry professionals with practical insights to accelerate their own development of microbial platforms.

    • Covers the application of genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics in microbial cell factory design
    • Addresses the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to highlight advanced design strategies
    • Demonstrates the implementation of microbial cell factories across a diverse range of industrial sectors
    • Highlights the latest developments in engineering non-conventional microbes with unique metabolic capacities, such as Pseudomonas, Corynebacterium, Yarrowia, and extremophiles
