Design, Production and After-lives

Lakshmi Subramanian retired as Professor of History from the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta and as Visiting Professor at the department of Humanities and Social Sciences, BITS, Goa, India. Her areas of interest include the history of Indian business and of the Indian Ocean, as well as music and performance history of South India. Her publications include A History of India 1707–1857 (Orient Blackswan, Delhi, 2010) and The Sovereign and the Pirate Ordering Maritime Subjects in India's Western Littoral (Oxford University Press, Delhi, 2016).
