Democratizing Critique

This book advances current debates in social and political philosophy by providing the first comprehensive, critical engagement with the work of James Bohman.Inspired by his theoretical pluralism and his efforts to bridge philosophical traditions, it includes contributions to hermeneutics, critical theory, deliberative democracy, pragmatism, feminism, and republican cosmopolitanism. A unique contribution to current philosophical debates, Democratizing Critique challenges theoretical isolation by extending Bohman’s wide-ranging reflections to pressing contemporary issues such as artificial intelligence, digitalization, and transnational and feminist politics. It will therefore appeal to scholars of social theory, political theory and social and political philosophy with interests in critical theory and questions of democracy and democratization.
