    Beskrivning

Policing the UAE is the first textbook designed specifically for students, officers, and educators working within the unique legal, cultural, and operational context of the United Arab Emirates. Unlike international policing texts that assume a Western model, this book draws on local examples, legislation, and organisational structures to reflect how policing is actually delivered in the region today. The book covers a wide range of topics including:crime investigation, road safety, organised crime, vulnerable victims, major events, and the growing role of artificial intelligence in law enforcement. Each chapter connects theoretical ideas with real-life examples and case studies from the UAE, such as community engagement programmes and responses to global events such as Expo 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic.Written by former operational police officers and current educators, the book balances academic clarity with practical relevance. Reflective questions and exercises throughout encourage critical thinking and professional development, making it suitable for use across diploma, undergraduate, and CPD programmes. By integrating local practice with global research, Policing the UAE offers a groundbreaking model for police education in the region and provides a much-needed resource for those preparing to lead and serve in 21st-century law enforcement.

“As a student of both Dr. Gareth and Dr. Jackie, I can see they have brought their real-world experience into this book. The way they explain each chapter and their attention to every detail makes the content clear. This book not only supports my current studies but also helps me in my future journey and when I enter the field. I can't wait to get the book when it is released.”Rubayea Abdulla Alketbi (R02210190), Rabdan Academy“Thank you, Dr. Gareth and Dr. Jackie, for all the effort you put into creating such a helpful textbook. As a student preparing for a career in policing, this book gave me a clearer understanding of key concepts and the way they connect to what we’re learning in class. I’m confident that the knowledge I’ve gained will really help me when I enter the field.”Wadima Saif Juma Salem Aldhaheri (R02300169), Rabdan Academy “As a student graduating this year, the chapter on Child Protection is especially impactful. It provides a deeper understanding of how to recognize and respond to vulnerable situations. In this book, the connection between real-life examples and clear guidance makes it a resource to rely on. For anyone preparing to serve in the UAE, this knowledge proves valuable in helping protect and support the community.”Shamma Mohamed Butti Abdulla Al Mheiri (R02200026), Rabdan Academy “As a student that has one week of studies left I wish that I had such a book that can help me with understanding the real context of policing in the UAE because I will graduate as a UAE officer and the book would’ve allowed me to deal with real stuff in the UAE."Sultan Ahmed Sultan Waswas Alzaabi (R02210009), Rabdan Academy "As a student who took the Child Protection course with Dr. Jackie, I really value the effort to create a book that covers important and interesting real-life issues. The topics are helpful for understanding the realities of policing in the UAE. This resource supports both students and professionals, presenting information in a way that makes you think and want to learn more. I believe it’s something I would suggest everyone read to better understand the challenges and responsibilities of police work in our society."Amna Al Dhaheri (R02400022), Rabdan Academy As a student of policing and security in the UAE, I have found this book to be a transformative resource in my understanding of child protection. The chapters on investigation offer invaluable insights into real-world challenges, effectively bridging the gap between theory and practice. With its clear structure and relatable examples, this book has simplified complex concepts, making it one of the most impactful and useful resources in my academic journey.Shama Omar Ghaleb Omar Albreiki (R0230023), Rabdan Academy
