Eastern Europe (1984) discusses the major questions that arise in the study of legitimation in post-Stalin Eastern Europe and relates them to the politics of the individual states. The problematic relationship between legitimacy and power in Eastern Europe is examined in detail, as is the relation of power to legitimacy and the occurrence of political crises.
