Mer om författaren
Mahitosh Mandal, Ph.D., FRSB, FNA, FNSc, FNASc, FNAScT, is a distinguished scholar and researcher in cancer biology. He currently holds the Arvind & Renu Jain Chair Professorship and is a J.C. Bose National Fellow at the School of Medical Science & Technology, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. Additionally, he serves as a Visiting Associate Professor in Human and Molecular Genetics at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, USA. Prof. Mandal earned his Ph.D. in Science from the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, in 1994, following an M.Sc. (1985) and B.Sc. (Hons.) (1983) in Human Physiology from Calcutta University. His academic and research career has been extensive, with significant tenures at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, USA, where he held positions as Postdoctoral Fellow, Research Associate, Research Scientist, and Assistant Professor before joining IIT Kharagpur in 2006, achieving full Professorship in 2018. A prolific researcher, Prof. Mandal has published 272 research papers, accumulating an impressive 186,565 citations and an h-index of 80, according to Google Scholar. His work continues to shape the landscape of cancer biology and therapeutic innovation through groundbreaking research in precision medicine and targeted drug delivery.Subhayan Das is a medical practitioner and researcher with expertise in cancer biology, biomedical engineering, and clinical research. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in medical sciences from NRS Medical College & Hospital, followed by a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Doctorate in Cancer Biology from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Allied Health Sciences at Brainware University. With over 15 years of clinical experience and eight years dedicated to translational health research, Dr. Das has made significant contributions to the understanding of breast cancer stem cells, chemoresistance, computational biology, and drug design. His research primarily focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying breast cancer stem cell biology and chemoresistance, with the aim of identifying novel molecular targets for therapeutic interventions. Additionally, he has played a pivotal role in the development of smart biomaterials for wound healing and targeted anti-cancer drug delivery systems. His research continues to advance the fields of oncology and biomedical engineering, contributing to the development of innovative therapeutic strategies.Moumita Kundu is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology at Brainware University, West Bengal. She is also a member of the Center of Multidisciplinary Research & Innovations at Brainware University. Her research is focused on disease biology and therapeutics. She is a former Research Associate at KIIT Deemed University, Bhubaneswar. Dr. Kundu earned her PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, West Bengal, India. She completed her B.Pharm and M.Pharm at Jadavpur University, West Bengal, where she received the University Gold Medal for securing the first position in order of merit in the B.Pharm examination 2013. She also has expertise in stimuli-responsive drug delivery system development and bioanalytical method development. Dr. Kundu has published several SCI(E) articles in reputed international journals, including Molecular Cancer, BBA-Reviews on Cancer, BBA-Molecular Basis of Disease, Experimental Cell Research, and Chemical Engineering Journal, achieving an h-index of 11.Rupesh Dash is a scientist at the BRIC-Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) in Bhubaneswar, India. He is widely recognized for his pioneering research in translational oncology and cancer gene therapy. A major part of his research focuses on why advanced cancers eventually escape the cytotoxic onslaught of chemotherapy. Dr. Dash began his formal scientific journey at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, where he earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Biotechnology in 2007. Seeking global exposure, he moved to the United States for a postdoctoral fellowship at the VCU School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia, USA. He followed this with another research stint at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) in Singapore. He has established his independent laboratory at ILS Bhubaneswar since 2012. With more than 15 years of dedicated experience in cancer biology, his laboratory works on to understand the molecular mechanism behind drug resistance in colorectal cancer (CRC) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). To solve these complex challenges, he leverages advanced multi-genomics tools and high-throughput genomics screening.Pralay Mitra is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kharagpur. He earned his Ph.D. from IISc Bangalore in 2010 and completed postdoctoral research in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at the University of Michigan. His research bridges computational biology, structural biology, and artificial intelligence. Prof. Mitra’s group at IIT Kharagpur develops advanced computational methods and AI-driven tools to analyze molecular systems, engineer proteins, and tackle complex challenges in disease biology. His primary focus areas include protein-protein interactions, biomarker discovery, computational drug design, and cancer therapeutics. A widely published researcher, his recent work emphasizes AI-assisted drug repurposing, deep learning in biomedical applications, and transformer-based RNA analysis. Alongside his extensive research, Prof. Mitra is dedicated to education and student supervision, teaching diverse technical courses that span Compilers, Image Processing, Reinforcement Learning, and Computational Biophysics.
