Routledge Handbook of Contemporary Zimbabwe

The Routledge Handbook on Contemporary Zimbabwe provides an expansive and interdisciplinary examination of contemporary Zimbabwe.Decolonial by design, this book probes the recent history of the country and problematises generally accepted narratives of nationhood. It brings together leading and emerging scholars to analyse the dynamics of power, identity, governance, and culture in a state simultaneously grappling with crisis and reinvention. The book provides detailed analyses of the political dynamics in the so-called “Second Republic”, but it also interrogates the rapid social changes and cultural shifts that are being negotiated as the country wrestles with its genealogies, its past, present condition, and its possible futures.Providing a comprehensive analysis of Zimbabwe at a crucial stage of its history, this book will be an important read for scholars across the humanities and social sciences researching Zimbabwe, and Africa more broadly.
