She is a founding editor of Ab Imperio Quarterly and the author of Homo Imperii: A History of Physical Anthropology in Russia (2013). Her recently finished new book, A Race for the Future: Scientific Visions of Modern Russian Jewishness (1860s–1930s), considers strategies and meanings of Jewish self-racialization in the Russian Empire and early Soviet Union.
