Drylands: Biodiversity, Conservation and Management, edited by Victor R. Squires, Mahesh K. Gaur and Salah Attia Ismail, fills a gap in the literature admirably. It gets away from ‘species lists’ and designation of species and habitats as ‘endangered’ or ‘at risk’.
