Chris Aslan was born in Turkey and spent his childhood there and in war-torn Beirut. He lived in the deserts and mountains of Central Asia for 15 years, and still returns regularly to the region. Chris is currently based in the UK but is planning a move to North Cyprus.

    I föregångaren "A carpet ride to Khiva" ger Chris Aslan en spännande och bitvis underhållande skildring av sina sju år i Khiva i Uzbekistan, där han arbetade med ett UNESCO-projekt för att ta vara på och utveckla regionens traditionella textilhantverk. I uppföljaren "Unravelling the Silk Road" breddar han perspektivet och ger läsaren en inblick i människors livsvillkor i flera delar av Centralasien. Han visar hur ull, silke och bomull spelat en central roll för samhällets utveckling men också fört med sig utsugning och miljöförstöring. Boken är ett måste för den som är det minsta nyfiken på Centralasien, en region som för många av oss är en vit fläck på kartan.
