'The last 40 years has seen a marked increase in the number and quality of papers on various aspects of maritime economics; but they are scattered around a variety of journals, some of which are not readily available outside university libraries. This volume brings together 33 of the most important papers published in the last few years and from nearly a dozen different sources. A helpful introduction sets the scene and refers to several other papers. This book should have a prominent place on the shelves of everyone having a serious interest in the subject.'
