AIMETA is the Italian Association of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. The Italian adhering association to IUTAM (International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics), since its foundation in 1965 it has played a major role in the development of the Italian community of mechanics, and has promoted the mechanical sciences and the advancement of human society. Giuseppe Rega is Professor Emeritus at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. He served as AIMETA’s president in 2006-2009, and as Editor-in-Chief of Springer journal “Meccanica”. In 2017 he received the ASME Lyapunov Award for his lifelong contributions to the field of nonlinear dynamics.
