This open access textbook provides an introduction to the software program NVivo, the most widely used qualitative analysis program. It is a versatile program with an extensive range of accessible analysis tools, flexibly deployable in the diversity of qualitative analysis approaches.Qualitative analysis is almost standard practice today with the help of a software program. Dimitri Mortelmans is Senior Full Professor in Sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Antwerp (Belgium). He is head of the Centre for Population, Family and Health (CPFH). Mortelmans holds an ERC Advanced Grant and (co-)leads different data infrastructure projects (Divorce in Flanders, Share Flanders, The Social Study). His research concentrates on family sociology and social demography. He has published on divorce, newly constituted families, gendered labour careers and singlehood. On qualitative methodology, he published the Handbook of Qualitative Research Methods (in Dutch). In demography, he (co-)edited Changing Family Dynamics and Demographic Evolution. The Family Kaleidoscope, Lone parenthood in the Life Course, Divorce in Europe, and the Research Handbook of Partnering in the Life Course.
