Beskrivning

This book draws a compelling parallel between contemporary transformations in winescapes and the trends reshaping major metropolitan centres and international elite resorts. It identifies three interconnected forces as especially significant: the rise of artist capitalism; the growing incursion of marks, labels, and symbolic codes that convert winescapes into brandscapes; and the expanding role of tourism as both a driver and an outcome of these changes. Together, these dynamics illuminate not only how wine regions are being reimagined, but also how contemporary societies negotiate the relationship between culture and nature, authenticity and spectacle, place-making and consumption. The book brings together research that offers both theoretical insight and practical implications regarding the use and impacts of embedding art and architecture in wine tourism. Its central aim is to examine how these creative interventions are evolving the business models, social practices, and visitor experiences of wine tourism—and how they shape both demand and supply, from the production of tourism experiences to their consumption by visitors. Adopting a multidisciplinary perspective, the volume draws on contributions from marketing, management, creative arts, psychology, sociology, and anthropology, and features international case studies that reveal the diverse ways art and architecture are redefining wine tourism worldwide.
