Yusuf A. Hannun, MD, is Director, Stony Brook Cancer Center, Vice Dean, Cancer Medicine, and Professor, Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Stony Brook University. He is a renowned molecular biologist and physician-scientist investigating the molecular mechanisms of cancer, with an expertise in sphingolipids. Dr. Hannun is currently on the Editorial Board of several journals, including Biomedicine and Biotechnology, Frontiers in Membrane Physiology, and Biophysics, Chemistry and Physics of Lipids, and has received several honors, including the ASBMB Avanti Award in Lipids and ISI Highly Citied Researchers (in Biology and Biochemistry), and is Fellow, the American Association and Advancement of Science.
