The management of vortices and separation behind the bodiesat high angles of attack is important for highmaneuvrability of airplanes and other fluid dynamicapparatus. The recent international developments in thefundamental sciences and the application to the control offluid behaviours were presented at the IUTAM Symposium onFluid Dynamics of High Angle of Attack in September 1992 inTokyo and documented in this volume.
