Women and Work in the Eighteenth-Century Francosphere

This book focuses on the interfaces between women and work and/or women at work, across the eighteenth-century French speaking world, primarily in text (private, historical, literary)and art. How did women retain agency through their work? These essays explore this question and underscore the value of analysing work by women, revealing why this is important in both eighteenth- and twenty-first-century contexts. Contributors identify underlying, recurrent themes, such as networking and community, which underpin the studies in this book, and which resonate powerfully in today's world.
