This movement, based in part on a perceived success story in Scotland, has led to the founding of more than twenty Violence Reduction Units in England and Wales, and more than £200m of funding to support evidence-based interventions.This book is based on a four-year, multi-method study of the public health approach to violence reduction in Scotland and England. Drawing on 190 interviews with leading professionals working in violence reduction, The Public Health Approach to Violence Reduction provides an empirical case study of the effects of the public health approach to violence reduction in the UK. It traces the evolution of the approach through different scales of policymaking and scrutinises the claims of its potential, using the Scottish model as a case study. Esta monografía tiene por objeto reivindicar el papel de los medios de prueba en el proceso, a través de la presentación de algunas discusiones que podemos identificar en cada uno de ellos. Este trabajo busca ser un punto de partida para un estudio más profundo de los distintos medios de prueba permitiendo que un análisis más pormenorizado de cada uno implique decisiones cada vez más justas. Uno de los grandes problemas que es posible identificar y que se aleja de una teoría racional de la prueba, ha sido la jerarquización de los medios de prueba, lo cual este texto desestima. Es por ello que en un primer grupo de análisis se desmitifica la infalibilidad de la prueba documental, así como se plantea lo innecesario que resulta una especial deferencia a la prueba pericial. En oposición a ello, y, respecto a medios de prueba que generan especial desconfianza, es que examinaremos, en un segundo grupo, algunas paradojas de la prueba testimonial y estableceremos ciertos criterios objetivos para valorar la declaración de las partes. Finalizaremos transparentando cómo la inspección personal del tribunal reúne características propias de todos los demás medios de prueba y por qué las presunciones no comparten la naturaleza jurídica de tales. A partir del carácter general de las discusiones planteadas, este trabajo pretende ser el inicio para seguir indagando en materias más específicas, como una regulación común de ciertos medios de prueba, el establecimiento de criterios claros y objetivos de valoración o la introducción de perspectiva de género en, por ejemplo, la prueba pericial, la testimonial o la declaración de parte.
