Diese unerbittliche Ausrottung, so Ashley Dawson, ist das Produkt eines globalen Angriffs auf das Gemeingut, auf diesen großen Schatz aus Luft, Wasser, Pflanzen und Lebewesen sowie kollektiv geschaffene Kulturformen wie die Sprache, welche traditionell als das Erbe der gesamten Menschheit betrachtet wurden. Dieser Angriff hat seinen Ursprung darin, dass sich das Kapital unerbittlich in alle Lebensbereiche ausbreitet. Das Aussterben, so Dawson, kann nicht isoliert von einer Kritik an unserem Wirtschaftssystem verstanden werden.
