Discover applications of Fourier analysis on finite non-Abelian groups The majority of publications in spectral techniques consider Fourier transform on Abelian groups. However, non-Abelian groups provide notable advantages in efficient implementations of spectral methods.Fourier Analysis on Finite Groups with Applications in Signal Processing and System Design examines aspects of Fourier analysis on finite non-Abelian groups and discusses different methods used to determine compact representations for discrete functions providing for their efficient realizations and related applications. Switching functions are included as an example of discrete functions in engineering practice. Additionally, consideration is given to the polynomial expressions and decision diagrams defined in terms of Fourier transform on finite non-Abelian groups.A solid foundation of this complex topic is provided by beginning with a review of signals and their mathematical models and Fourier analysis. Next, the book examines recent achievements and discoveries in: Matrix interpretation of the fast Fourier transformOptimization of decision diagramsFunctional expressions on quaternion groupsGibbs derivatives on finite groupsLinear systems on finite non-Abelian groupsHilbert transform on finite groupsAmong the highlights is an in-depth coverage of applications of abstract harmonic analysis on finite non-Abelian groups in compact representations of discrete functions and related tasks in signal processing and system design, including logic design. All chapters are self-contained, each with a list of references to facilitate the development of specialized courses or self-study.With nearly 100 illustrative figures and fifty tables, this is an excellent textbook for graduate-level students and researchers in signal processing, logic design, and system theory-as well as the more general topics of computer science and applied mathematics.
Bent Functions and Permutation Methods
Binary and Multiple-Valued Bent Functions
Inbunden, Engelska, 2024

This book discusses in a uniform way binary, ternary, and quaternary bent functions, while most of the existing books on bent functions refer to just binary bent functions. The approach presented is based on the observation that given certain bent functions, many other bent functions can be constructed by manipulating them.

Compared to binary switching functions, the multiple-valued functions (MV) offer more compact representations of the information content of signals modeled by logic functions and, therefore, their use fits very well in the general settings of data compression attempts and approaches.

A Homage to Lotfi A. Zadeh – Volume 1

The notion of Fuzziness stands as one of the really new concepts that have recently enriched the world of Science. Science grows not only through technical and formal advances on one side and useful applications on the other side, but also as consequence of the introduction and assimilation of new concepts in its corpus. These, in turn, produce new developments and applications. And this is what Fuzziness, one of the few new concepts arisen in the XX Century, has been doing so far. This book aims at paying homage to Professor Lotfi A. Zadeh, the “father of fuzzy logic” and also at giving credit to his exceptional work and personality. In a way, this is reflected in the variety of contributions collected in the book. In some of them the authors chose to speak of personal meetings with Lotfi; in others, they discussed how certain papers of Zadeh were able to open for them a new research horizon. Some contributions documented results obtained from the author/s after taking inspiration from a particular idea of Zadeh, thus implicitly acknowledging him. Finally, there are contributions of several “third generation fuzzysists or softies” who were firstly led into the world of Fuzziness by a disciple of Lotfi Zadeh, who, following his example, took care of opening for them a new road in science. Rudolf Seising is Adjoint Researcher at the European Centre for Soft Computing in Mieres, Asturias (Spain).Enric Trillas and Claudio Moraga are Emeritus Researchers at the European Centre for Soft Computing, Mieres, Asturias (Spain).Settimo Termini is Professor ofTheoretical Computer Science at the University of Palermo, Italy and Affiliated Researcher at the European Centre for Soft Computing, Mieres, Asturias (Spain)
