Die Intelligenz einer Person spielt in vielen Lebensbereichen eine bedeutende Rolle! Die Anwendungsfelder der Intelligenzdiagnostik sind entsprechend vielfältig. Nach einer kurzen Einführung in den aktuellen wissenschaftlichen Stand der Theorie der Intelligenzmessung und einem Überblick über Geschichte und Modelle der Intelligenzforschung widmet sich das Buch vor allem anwendungsorientierten Fragen der Intelligenzdiagnostik. Ziel des Buches ist es, alle Personen, die mit der Konzeption, praktischen Durchführung und Evaluation von Begabtenfördermaßnahmen betraut sind, über Fördermöglichkeiten begabter Schüler und deren Wirksamkeit zu informieren. Nach einer theoretischen Einführung zur Evaluation von Begabtenfördermaßnahmen werden die Ergebnisse der Evaluationsforschung zu verschiedenen Maßnahmen vorgestellt. Ob Begabte in der Schule eher integrativ oder separiert zu fördern sind, wird differenziert erörtert. Weitere Schwerpunkte sind die Interventionen Akzeleration und Enrichment. Zu diesen Formen der Begabtenförderung werden verschiedene konkrete Ansätze, wie z. B. die vorzeitige Einschulung oder Begabten-AGs, vorgestellt. Da eine gelungene Auswahl der begabten Schüler wesentlich zum Erfolg dieser Maßnahmen beiträgt, werden die Möglichkeiten der Identifikation begabter Schüler ausführlich dargestellt. Neben den Bereichen Schulleistungen, insbesondere auch der schulischen Minderleistung (Underachievement), Intelligenz und Kreativität finden eine Vielzahl von Personenmerkmalen Berücksichtigung. Es werden Perspektiven der Hochbegabungsdiagnostik aufgezeigt, indem u. a. auf Möglichkeiten der Diagnostik der Arbeitsgedächtniskapazität, der Selbststeuerung und des Persönlichkeitsmerkmals der «Overexcitabilities» eingegangen wird.
