With the volume Constitutional Documents of Italy and Malta 1787–1850, the collected and annotated Italian constitutional documents of this epoch are now available for the first time. This publication contains 135 Italian constitutional documents, beginning with the pre-revolutionary constitutional projects of Tuscany (Pietro Leopoldo Stati, 1787) and ending with the draft constitutions for the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venice (Statuto Costituzionale del Regno Lombardo-Veneto, 1850), published here for the first time. The second of two part-volumes contains, in alphabetical order, the 67 regional constitutions from Modena and Reggio to Verona and 8 constitutional documentes of Malta 1802–1849.

This supplemental volume expands upon the seven-volume edition of Constitutional Documents of the United States of America 1776–1860, which was published from 2006 to 2009. It contains 14 constitutional documents from 8 different U.S. states which were recently made accessible for the first time in American libraries and archives. Among the documents in the collection are the constitution of the short-lived “Republic of Indian Stream,” which succeeded from New Hampshire from 1832 to 1835, as well as rare constitutional documents from New Mexico and Texas written in both Spanish and English. The texts have been edited, annotated, and indexed on the basis of the original manuscripts and (in certain cases rare) original prints produced by the official state or constitutional convention printing presses.

The first complete collection of constitutions and draughts of constitutions from Switzerland 1791 to 1865, includes approx. 470 national and cantonal documents. The documents are printed in their original languages. Vol. III encompasses 66 cantonal documents Aargau – Basel Stadt.

The third and final volume of Constitutional Documents of Mexico 1814-1849 contains the constitutions of 28 individual Mexican states, as well as their draft constitutions and amendments.

For the first time an index of all the constitutions of the Americas, including federal and member states, from the period 1850 to the present, is now available. All current and historical constitutions including their amendments and draughts of constitutions that never came into force are covered.The constitutional documents for each individual country are arranged chronologically and both a general index and an index of sub-national states are provided.

The book edition of Constitutions of the World from the late 18th Century to the middle of the 19th Century is the most complete and academically thorough collection of its kind. It contains constitutional documents from all over the world, written from 1776 to the end of the year 1849. This collection includes about 1,600 constitutions, amendments, human rights declarations, and draughts of constitutions that never came into force, from this period. These early constitutional documents were collected and examined in archives and libraries all over the world, as part of a project by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation). Using the original documents, experts from American and European universities reconstructed the authentic constitution texts for each country, and annotated them in their respective original languages. Each volume contains a short introduction, a main part with the edited constitution documents of a country, comments and an index.

The unique value of the complete edition lies in its making all constitutions, from the early phase of modern constitutionalism, accessible in a reliable, authentic text version for the first time. These constitutions were widely scattered until now and, in many cases, unknown. In all, constitutional documents from about 50 countries in Europe and the Americas will be published in volumes for each country. Constitutions of the World from the late 18th Century to the Middle of the 19th Century is a unique and fundamental source edition and an extensive documentation of constitutional history. At the same time, it supplements the microfiche edition Constitutions of the World 1850 to the Present.
