This important contribution to the sociolinguistics of Asian languages breaks new ground in the study of language standards and standardization in two key ways: in its focus on Asia, with particular attention paid to China and its neighbours, and in the attention paid to multilingual contexts. The chapters address various kinds of (sometimes hidden) multilingualism and examine the interactions between multilingualism and language standardization, offering a corrective to earlier work on standardization, which has tended to assume a monolingual nation state and monolingual individuals. Taken together, the chapters in this book thus add to our understanding of the ways in which multilingualism is implicated in language standardization, as well as the impact of language standards on multilingualism. The introduction, Chapter 6 and Chapter 8 are free to download as open access publications under a CC BY NC licence. This SpringerBrief focuses mainly on the basic theory and applications of massive MIMO in 5G networks. The significance of massive MIMO for 5G or future communications is first briefly discussed. Then, the basic theory of massive MIMO technology is comprehensively analyzed, i.e., a variety of 5G scenarios and their improvements are described when massive MIMO is taken into account. Art physical-layer techniques and various networking techniques for interference mitigation and resource scheduling are introduced as well. This SpringerBrief also examines the selected applications of massive MIMO in 5G networks, i.e., massive MIMO-aided millimeter communications and energy transfer. The physical-layer design, multiple access control (MAC) mechanism and networking techniques are discussed for millimeter-wave communications aided by massive MIMO technology. Then, massive MIMO is covered for hybrid information and energy transfer. A downlink precoder and a uplink pilot scheme is proposed for single cell networks, and both non-cooperative and cooperative energy transfer in multi-cell are presented.Communication researchers in the area of MIMO technology, as well as researchers and practitioners working in millimeter communications and energy transfer seeking new research topics, and topic areas with communication system design, centralized and distributed algorithms, will find this brief useful as a reference. Advanced-level students studying communication engineering will also find this book useful as a secondary text.

An important and timely guide to the progress being made on constrained helical peptides Constraint helical peptides have emerged as a solution to target previously undruggable protein-protein interactions, which feature large and complex surfaces. Cyclized Helical Peptides: Synthesis, Properties and Therapeutic Applications offers a review of the most current methodologies of constructing constrained helices. The authors noted experts on the topic include the information on the fundamental features of cyclized helical peptides and discuss their limitations. The book summarizes and explores the effects of chemical methods constructing helical peptides on helicity, binding affinity, cell penetration, and nonspecific toxicity. The book examines the therapeutic applications of the constraint helices and includes comparison with existing small molecule modulators or antibodies. Designed as a useful resource for both those outside and inside the field. Those new to the field will find a comprehensive introduction to cyclized helical peptide and those inside the field will find a deeper understanding of the topic. This important book: Offers a practical introduction to constrained helical peptidesIncludes all aspects of constrained helical peptidesIncludes information on the most recent methods that have emergedPresents a guide to help solve practical problems in the fieldWritten for academics, pharmaceutical professional, Cyclized Helical Peptides is a comprehensive guide to the developments of constrained helical peptides.

This book traces the development of video (especially short video, duan shipin) in China over the past few years, exploring how these videos engaged with China’s rapidly changing society, how they enriched existed theories of society, media and communication, and new theories to be extracted. The book offers a new, critical model for understanding the relationship between video, video theory, video industry and the State. This book sheds light on the overall description and explanation of the current socio-political, economic and cultural environment concerning the development of video (especially short video). It interprets the emergence of the “Social Videolization” through the subjects of media psychology, communication studies and cultural criticism, media industrial studies, sociology and anthropology.
