This book examines the characteristics and context of entrepreneurship in Singapore, with reference to new interviews by Singaporean entrepreneurs and their firms. The book is split into two sections. The first section looks at Singapore from a comparative perspective. It provides a historical overview of Singapore’s business system, examining the shift in Singapore government policy from the developmental state to encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation. It also examines the current entrepreneurial ecosystem, highlighting the synergies of government support, clean governance, and robust venture capital and angel investment networks. The second section of the book dives into a range of case studies of Singaporean entrepreneurs. All interview chapters will adopt a similar structure to facilitate cross-comparison and include pedagogical features such as summary boxes and guiding questions. Major entrepreneurship theories such as effectuation, alertness and resilience approaches are discussed, and a thematic analysis of the primary data helps readers reflect on the narratives in light of these theories.Useful for university teaching and of academic interest, this book will be of relevance to students and researchers of entrepreneurship, business innovation and Asia-Pacific business.

Brookfield, this book covers a wide range of topics – such as classroom democratization, critical thinking and reflection, race and power, and more. Each chapter is framed by key questions meant to hone teachers’ crafts and encourage important conversations. Further, this engaging book examines the crucial steps of bringing educators’ identities and backgrounds into practice by soliciting and responding to student feedback, negotiating power dynamics, and the ways institutional constraints, students, and self-concepts can sabotage efforts.A timely text, Teaching Well is the ideal companion for all college and university educators and experienced practitioners across the globe who continue to reflect critically about their teaching practice.

This handbook provides a frame of reference for the global challenges facing higher education leadership today. Focusing on recommendations and directions for the future rather than simply a recap of measures taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, the contributors also delve into contexts such as the climate crisis, issues of diversity, equity and inclusion, digitalisation, funding and marketisation, the war in Ukraine and China-Taiwan and Hong Kong tensions. They collate a systematic, global view of higher education systems during the pandemic and beyond, and explore possibilities for the future, providing recommendations for ‘the new normal’. With contributions from across six continents, the book will be of interest to students and scholars of higher education and governance, university leaders, government and accreditation bodies, and anyone else interested in reflecting on the past few years in higher education and the road ahead.
