The United States has a long record of ambivalence toward recent immigrants. Nowhere is this love-hate relationship more evident than in the public school systems of high-immigration states like California, where pro- and anti-immigration advocates have waged a long-running battle over “bilingual” education versus “English immersion” programs. Unfortunately, this fierce political debate does not always acknowledge day-to-day reality in the schools, and the policies that result may ultimately hinder the schools and students they intend to help. Este nuevo "Morir no es poco II. Estudios sobre la muerte y los cementerios desde la Post Pandemia" revela la presencia de tópicos nuevos en torno a la muerte que no se evidenciaban en el volumen del 2018. La pandemia se torna insoslayable, pero esta parábola histórica que transitamos ¿habrá sido un refugio? El estudio de los pequeños objetos personales, documentos, fuentes, panteones, placas, carteles, como mediadores emocionales ante la muerte, la recuperación de historias de vida desde la muerte, los discursos, relatos y simbología que se manifiestan en placas recordatorias, la presencia la política de la memoria para evocar justas reivindicaciones territoriales pero también a los miles de muertos que dejó la Guerra de Malvinas, son la evidencia de que el estudio de la muerte y los cementerios encuentra múltiples y variados enfoques desde donde ser abordados. El peso de este libro recae en la perspectiva histórica aun cuando no haya sido nuestra primera intencionalidad. Volver al pasado fue una decisión de quienes integran el libro que provienen de distintas disciplinas, formaciones, universidades e instituto. Los trabajos cubren gran parte de nuestro territorio desde diferentes provincias dándole al libro un carácter federal. Esperamos en el futuro seguir sumando a nuestra Red Académica a colegas de las Ciencias Sociales que aporten sus investigaciones sobre el gran enigma de la muerte y la forma de tramitarla de los que quedan.
