This book highlights a broad range of modern information technology tools, techniques, investigations and open challenges, mainly with applications in systems research and computational physics. Divided into three major sections, it begins by presenting specialized calculation methods in the framework of data analysis and intelligent computing. In turn, the second section focuses on application aspects, mainly for systems research, while the final section investigates how various tasks in the basic disciplines—mathematics and physics—can be tackled with the aid of contemporary IT methods. 

The book gathers selected presentations from the 3rd Conference on Information Technology, Systems Research and Computational Physics (ITSRCP''18), which took place on 2–5 July 2018 in Krakow, Poland. The intended readership includes interdisciplinary scientists and practitioners pursuing research at the interfaces of information technology, systems research, and computational physics.

This book collects the contributions presented at AGOP 2019, the 10th International Summer School on Aggregation Operators, which took place in Olomouc (Czech Republic) in July 2019. It includes contributions on topics ranging from the theory and foundations of aggregation functions to their various applications.

Aggregation functions have numerous applications, including, but not limited to, data fusion, statistics, image processing, and decision-making. They are usually defined as those functions that are monotone with respect to each input and that satisfy various natural boundary conditions. In particular settings, these conditions might be relaxed or otherwise customized according to the user’s needs. Noteworthy classes of aggregation functions include means, t-norms and t-conorms, uninorms and nullnorms, copulas and fuzzy integrals (e.g., the Choquet and Sugeno integrals). This book provides a valuable overview of recent research trends in this area.

The book is a collection of contributionsby leading experts, developed around traditional themes discussed at the annualLinz Seminars on Fuzzy Set Theory. The different chapters have been written byformer PhD students, colleagues, co-authors and friends of Peter Klement, aleading researcher and the organizer of the Linz Seminars on Fuzzy Set Theory.The book also includes advanced findings on topics inspired by Klement’sresearch activities, concerning copulas, measures and integrals, as well asaggregation problems. Some of the chapters reflect personal views andcontroversial aspects of traditional topics, while others deal with deepmathematical theories, such as the algebraic and logical foundations of fuzzyset theory and fuzzy logic. Originally thought as an homage to Peter Klement,the book also represents an advanced reference guide to the mathematicaltheories related to fuzzy logic and fuzzy set theory with the potential tostimulate important discussions on new research directions in the field.

A broad spectrum of modern Information Technology (IT) tools, techniques, main developments and still open challenges is presented. Emphasis is on new research directions in various fields of science and technology that are related to data analysis, data mining, knowledge discovery, information retrieval, clustering and classification, decision making and decision support, control, computational mathematics and physics, to name a few. Applications in many relevant fields are presented, notably in telecommunication, social networks, recommender systems, fault detection, robotics, image analysis and recognition, electronics, etc. The methods used by the authors range from high level formal mathematical tools and techniques, through algorithmic and computational tools, to modern metaheuristics.

This book collects the abstracts of the contributions presented at AGOP 2017, the 9th International Summer School on Aggregation Operators. The conference took place in Skövde (Sweden) in June 2017. Contributions include works from theory and fundamentals of aggregation functions to their use in applications. Aggregation functions are usually defined as those functions that are monotonic and that satisfy the unanimity condition. In particular settings these conditions are relaxed.

Aggregation functions are used for data fusion and decision making.

Examples of these functions include means, t-norms and t-conorms, copulas and fuzzy integrals (e.g., the Choquet and Sugeno integrals).

This volume collects the extended abstracts of 45 contributions of participants to the Seventh International Summer School on Aggregation Operators (AGOP 2013), held at Pamplona in July, 16-20, 2013. These contributions cover a very broad range, from the purely theoretical ones to those with a more applied focus. Moreover, the summaries of the plenary talks and tutorials given at the same workshop are included.

Together they provide a good overview of recent trends in research in aggregation functions which can be of interest to both researchers in Physics or Mathematics working on the theoretical basis of aggregation functions, and to engineers who require them for applications.
