This book collects the abstracts of the contributions presented at AGOP 2017, the 9th International Summer School on Aggregation Operators. The conference took place in Skövde (Sweden) in June 2017. Contributions include works from theory and fundamentals of aggregation functions to their use in applications. Aggregation functions are usually defined as those functions that are monotonic and that satisfy the unanimity condition. In particular settings these conditions are relaxed. Aggregation functions are used for data fusion and decision making. Examples of these functions include means, t-norms and t-conorms, copulas and fuzzy integrals (e.g., the Choquet and Sugeno integrals).

SVMs have emerged as very successful pattern recognition methods in recent years [16]. SVMs have yielded superior performance in various applications such as; text categorization [15], and face detection [12], content-based image retrieval [6], and learning image similarity [4]. The motivation here is detection of suspicious bags in a security situation. The usual method for bomb personnel is to blow up a suspicious bag, and any explosives contained therein. However, if the bag contains chemical, biological or radiological canisters, this may lead to disastrous results. Furthermore, the “bl- up” method also destroys important clues such as fingerprints, type of explosive, detonators and other signatures of importance for forensic analysis. Extraction of the bag contents using telerobotics avoids these problems [8]. In a telerobotic system, it is advantageous to automate bag classification which is coupled to robotic tactics such as shaking out of the bags contents. For cooperative hum- robot interaction, in situations when autonomous capabilities fail, a human may be called in to distinguish the bag type. Here we focus on the autonomous operation of such a telerobotic system. In the autonomous mode, bags are classified by type using SVMs for the purpose of identifying initial manipulator grasp points. One side of the gripper must slide under the bag, and because of slippage, the grasp may fail. Thus, it is of importance to realize the type of bag, and the location of the opening before the grasp point assessment is made.

The refereed proceedings of the 10th International Fuzzy Systems Association World Congress, IFSA 2003, held in June/July 2003 in Istanbul, Turkey. The 84 papers presented together with 5 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected form 318 submissions. The papers address all current issues in the area and present the state of the art in fuzzy sets, fuzzy systems, and fuzzy logic and their applications in a broad variety of fields. The papers are divided in four parts on mathematical issues, methodological issues, application areas, and cross-disciplinary issues.

This carefully edited book comprises the papers from EUROFUSE 2011 Workshop on Fuzzy Methods for Knowledge-based Systems. EUROFUSE was established in 1998 as the EURO (the Association of European Operational Research Societies) Working Group on Fuzzy Sets, as a successor of the former European Chapter of IFSA (the International Fuzzy Systems Association). The present EUROFUSE 2011 workshop is held at Régua, Portugal, 21-23 September, in the World Heritage Site of the Douro Wine Region and is organised by Pedro Melo-Pinto and Pedro Couto. The workshop is devoted to Fuzzy Methods for Knowledge-based Systems. And has the goal to bring together researchers and practitioners developing and applying fuzzy techniques in preference modelling and decision making in an informal atmosphere.EUROFUSE 2011 has three distinguished invited speakers: Francisco Herrera (Granada, Spain), Radko Mesiar (Bratislava, Slovakia) and Jose Luis Garcia Lapresta (Valladolid, Spain). Next to the invited speakers, the three day program consists of 37 lectures. In total, there are 70 participants from 10 countries. This edited volume contains the final revised manuscripts on the basis of which the program was put together.

Nowadays, decision problems are pervaded with incomplete knowledge, i.e., imprecision and/or uncertain information, both in the problem description and in the preferential information. In this volume leading scientists in the field address various theoretical and practical aspects related to the handling of this incompleteness. The problems discussed are taken from multi-objective linear programming, rationality considerations in preference modelling, non-probabilistic utility theory, data fusion, group decision making and multicriteria decision aid. The book is oriented towards researchers, graduate and postgraduate students in decision analysis, fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, and operations research/management science.
