This reference book comprehensively delves into the systematics, taxonomy, morphology, ecology, and behaviour of the Lepidostomatidae (Trichoptera) in India. The chapters cover biogeography and distribution patterns, conservation status, functional traits, and management of Lepidostomatidae. The book also provides insights into the morphological and molecular techniques employed for identification, allowing for a deeper understanding of the intricate characteristics that define the caddisflies. The work examines detailed methods for the collection, preservation, and identification of Lepidostomatidae specimens. It also examines the threats faced by Trichoptera, particularly Lepidostomatidae, and sheds light on the challenges that endanger their survival in the current scenario of climate change.Features:Covers biogeography, distribution patterns, and conservation status of Lepidostomatidae in IndiaFocuses on functional traits and management strategies of Lepidostomatidae caddisfliesProvides insights into morphological and molecular techniques for accurate identification of Lepidostomatidae caddisfliesProvides methods for collection, preservation, and identification of Lepidostomatidae specimensExplores the crucial roles Lepidostomatidae in aquatic ecosystemsExamines threats and challenges endangering the survival of Trichoptera, including LepidostomatidaeIn the final section, the book explores the crucial roles Lepidostomatidae played in aquatic ecosystems. This book is useful to upper undergraduate and graduate students, academicians, and researchers of entomology, zoology, and environmental sciences.

This new book, Insect Diversity and Ecosystem Services, published in two comprehensive volumes, is an innovative work on insects and their impact on the ecosystem, describing their enormous free ecosystem services. The volumes cover a range of topics related to insects including their role in environmental pollution, their use in sustainable agricultural services, and the industrial, forensic, and medical applications of insects and their pure products. The book also covers the entomological and molecular aspects of insects, identifies the gaps in the research, and looks at integrated management strategies for pests. The first volume, Volume 1: Importance, Threats, Conservation, and Economic Perspectives, presents a comprehensive review of different insect orders regarding their diversity and importance in providing free ecological services. This book discusses the different diversity patterns of biogeographic zones of the world and how insects contribute to maintaining ecological diversity in different biogeographic regions of the world.Volume 2: Environmental Indicators, Molecular Approaches, and Management Strategies discusses the various aspects of insects, such as their role as environmental indicators, the effect of pesticides on insect diversity, strategies to control the diversity of insects, medical and forensic importance of insects, exploring new insect species through DNA barcoding, integrated pest management, the role of insect population in agriculture, and eco-friendly pest management approaches. Some topics covered in the book include:Role of insects for sustainable agricultural developmentCommercial importance of insects and their productsFood additive roles of insects and formulation of remedies for the reduction of disease pathogenesisManagement strategies for pest controlSome specific topics include colony collapse disorder of managed honey bee (Apis mellifera l.) populations, insects as strong crime indicator tools in forensic sciences, insect-based value-added products, and more.Together, these two volumes offer important information for researchers, academicians, scientists, industrialists, teachers, entomologists, and students for understanding the contribution of insects towards the sustainability of the ecosystem.

The order Trichoptera is one of the sixth largest insect orders with over 16,000 species known globally. In India, this order is represented by about 1400 species only. The literature on the caddisflies of India so far has remained scattered and fragmented. This book documents all of the 184 species of one of the largest family of Trichoptera: Rhyacophilidae. It details the taxonomic description of each species along with good-quality figures. The book will be a useful resource for studying the systematics and ecological aspects of caddisflies.
