Honey is a supersaturated solution of sugar made by bees. Honeybees collect a liquid secretion from flowers, called nectar, and take this back to their hives. It is an appreciated natural gift to humanity derived entirely from honeybees. Honey is the by-product of nectar collected by bees from the flowers, with some digestive enzymes produced by the honeybees themselves.
Honey: A Miraculous Product of Nature summarizes the current status of honey, it’s uses and related aspects. This illustrated volume describes use of honey in traditional medicines, i.e. Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani by acting as a preservative and nourishing agent. Also, other properties like digestibility, palatability, deliciousness, refreshing, thirst quencher, stomachic, anti-obtrusive, expectorant, anti-oxidative, anti-tussive and blood purifier are explained in beautiful manner. The role of honey in improving eyesight, strengthens gums and teeth and it’s use in jaundice, spleen enlargement, sore throat, chest diseases, sexual debility, renal and cystic calculi, intestinal worms, heart diseases and leprosy is very well described.
The compiled knowledge from range of bee scientists, Honey: A Miraculous Product of Nature aims to provide broad knowledge on honey to the researchers, apiculturists and students to continue their work on honey and honeybees.

Highlighting cutting-edge research on human exposure to endocrine toxicants and the related harmful effects, this book focuses on the challenges of dealing with increasing pollution levels, increased use of synthetic chemicals, and environmental endocrine disruptors that endanger the human endocrine system and its hormones. Found in manmade and natural substances and materials, these toxicants include pesticides, herbicides, industrial chemicals, solvents and byproducts, phytoestrogens, nanomaterials, and chemicals used in personal care products. They may mimic or interfere with the body’s hormones and are linked with developmental, reproductive, brain, immune, and other problems. The volume discusses the chemical nature and mechanisms of endocrine disruptors, their sources, the impact of endocrine toxicants on a sustainable environment, and the effect of endocrine toxicants on human health, such as on thyroid glands, on human reproduction, etc. The volume also looks at the therapeutic effects of medicinal plants on endocrine disorders in humans.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a multifaceted reproductive, metabolic syndrome, and its symptoms involve interactions between hormones, genes, and environmental stressors. The characteristic symptoms of PCOS include menstrual abnormalities such as oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea. The general symptoms of PCOS are anovulation or oligo-ovulation.Herbal Medicine Applications for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome provides comprehensive information on different aspects of PCOS, including its pathogenesis, symptoms, therapies, and management, particularly through herbal remedies.
With 13 chapters related to different aspects of PCOS, this book provides enormous knowledge about the pathogenesis and role of different therapeutic strategies globally. These chapters have been contributed by researchers from across the globe from Europe to Asia, who highlight the importance of herbal medicines in the treatment of a reproductive disorder such as PCOS.This book also serves as a simple compendium for undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers, and pharmaceutical companies to understand the fundamental concepts of herbal treatment use with regard to basic mechanisms, sources, and positive impact. Readers will find an articulate package of knowledge compiled about pathogenesis and complications of PCOS and the role of herbs in the development of drugs for the treatment of reproductive disorders.

This new innovative work on insects and their impact on the ecosystem covers the role of insects in environmental pollution, their use in sustainable agricultural services, and the industrial, forensic, and medical applications of insects and their pure products. The book also covers the entomological and molecular aspects of insects, identifies the gaps in the research, and looks at integrated management strategies for pests.
Volume 1: Importance, Threats, Conservation, and Economic Perspectives, reviews the different insect orders regarding their diversity and importance in providing free ecological services and discusses the diversity patterns of world biogeographic zones and how insects contribute to maintaining ecological diversity.
Volume 2: Environmental Indicators, Molecular Approaches, and Management Strategies discusses the role of insects as environmental indicators, the effect of pesticides on insect diversity, strategies to control the diversity of insects, medical and forensic importance of insects, exploring new insect species through DNA barcoding, integrated pest management, the role of insect population in agriculture, and eco-friendly pest management approaches.
Some topics covered in the book include:
Role of insects for the sustainable agricultural development Commercial importance of insects and their products Food additive roles of insects and formulation of remedies for the reduction of disease pathogenesis Management strategies for pest controlSome specific topics include colony collapse disorder of managed honey bee (Apis mellifera l.) populations, insects as strong crime indicator tools in forensic sciences, insect-based value-added products, and more.
Together, these two volumes offer important information for researchers, academicians, scientists, industrialists, teachers, entomologists, and students for understanding the contribution of insects towards the sustainability of the ecosystem.
