Damit erzählt sie eine bislang weitgehend ausgeblendete Geschichte. Sie schildert die Erfahrungen von überlebenden Juden und Sinti und Roma, von ehemaligen Zwangsarbeitern und Homosexuellen im westlichen Teil Deutschlands in den ersten Nachkriegsjahrzehnten.Es gab nach 1945 nicht weniger Antisemitismus und Rassismus, nicht weniger Hass auf Homosexuelle als während des NS, sondern wahrscheinlich sogar mehr. So war die Rede von »marodierenden« befreiten Osteuropäern, wenn es um ehemalige Zwangsarbeiter ging, oder von »feilschenden« jüdischen DPs auf dem Münchner Schwarzmarkt. Sinti und Roma waren während des Nationalsozialismus lückenlos registriert worden. Die 30.000 Namen umfassende Kartei wurde in der Bundesrepublik weiter für polizeiliche Maßnahmen verwendet. Auch Homosexuelle wurden weiterhin strafrechtlich verfolgt, bis 1969 auf Grundlage des § 175 in der Fassung von 1935.Das gängige Bild von der gelungenen Demokratisierung der Bundesrepublik bekommt durch diese Geschichten einen Riss. Die Erfahrungen der ehmals Verfolgten zeigen, dass der Hass und die Ressentiments gegen sie nicht einfach verschwanden, sie waren tief im Denken der Menschen verankert und sind es zum Teil bis heute. Die Gründe und Funktionen dieser Einstellungen mögen sehr unterschiedlich sein, doch sie haben eines gemeinsam: den Wunsch der Mehrheitsgesellschaft, dass die betroffenen Menschen nicht da seinsollten.

Was für Gefühle werden auf welche Weise in der Literatur, durch visuelle Darstellungen, unterschiedliche mediale Inszenierungen oder pogromartige Gewaltexzesse erzeugt? Wie machen antisemitische Propagandisten, Publizisten und Täter sich diese Affektstrategien zunutze? Wie wurde die Relevanz der Emotionen im Antisemitismus zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten theoretisch reflektiert und was bedeutet dies für die Möglichkeiten seiner Bekämpfung? Ist Antisemitismus noch der richtige Begriff, um all dies adäquat zu erfassen, oder sollten wir besser vom antijüdischen Ressentiment sprechen?

Subjektverständnisse im linken und alternativen Milieu von den 1960er Jahren bis in die 1990er Jahre.Eine wichtige zeithistorische Frage lautet, welche Entwicklungen seit den 1970er Jahren unsere Gegenwart im Sinne einer "Vorgeschichte"beeinflussen. Häufig wird dabei auf einen sozialgeschichtlichen Prozess der Individualisierung als Herauslösung aus sozialmoralischen Milieus verwiesen, aber auch auf neue Subjektverständnisse. Die Neue Linke und Neue Soziale Bewegungen stehen im letzten Drittel des 20. Jahrhunderts beispielhaft für den Versuch, ein neues "Wir" zu bilden. Sie bildeten aber auch ein Experimentierfeld für neue, subjektiv geprägte Lebensformen. Im Band wird nach Wandlungen, Beharrungen und Ambiguitäten von Subjektverständnissen in linken und alternativen Bewegungen und Gruppen von den 1960er Jahren bis in die 1990er Jahre gefragt. Lassen sich hier, auch im internationalen Rahmen, Aspekte neuer Subjektivitätskonzeptionen zeigen? Wie verhält es sich mit einer Abkehr von vermeintlich rationalistischen Welterklärungen durch das alternative Milieu in den 1970er Jahren? Ideengeschichtliche Deutungen einer "Gesellschaft der Singularitäten" (Reckwitz) werden anhand von Fallbeispielen und konkreten Praktiken kritisch hinterfragt.
