Biophysical Basis of Physiology and Calcium Signaling Mechanism in Cardiac and Smooth Muscle acts as a bridge between physiology and physics by discussing the physiology and calcium signaling mechanism in cardiac and smooth muscle. By exploring the mechanism of the cyclic release of stored Ca^(2+) in the SR or ER, this book covers the cell communication system, including excitable cells, recognizing the most relevant mechanisms of cell communication. Serving as a bridge between physiology and physics, coverage spans the physiology and calcium signaling mechanism in cardiac and smooth muscle, offering insight to physiological scientists, pharmaceutical scientists, medical doctors, biologists and physicists.

Molecular Pathophysiological Basis of Lifestyle-Related Diseases: Case Studies and Clinical Management presents an integrated molecular and biophysical account of lifestyle-related diseases, including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis, chronic kidney disease, periodontitis, and neurodegenerative disorders. Rather than treating these conditions as isolated clinical entities, it examines their shared origins in chronic low-grade inflammation, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, metabolic dysregulation, sympathetic overactivity, and psycho-emotional stress. Drawing on mathematical, physical, chemical, and molecular principles, the book explains how measurable pathological events emerge from disrupted tissue function and how these mechanisms shape clinical signs, disease progression, and patient management. Clinical case studies and management strategies connect mechanistic pathophysiology to real-world decision-making, making the volume useful for clinicians, researchers, and advanced students seeking a deeper understanding of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. By bridging redox biology, neuroendocrine regulation, cardiovascular and renal physiology, and metabolic disease, the book offers a coherent framework for understanding the worldwide rise of lifestyle-related disorders and for developing more targeted clinical and research responses. Written for clinical doctors, medical researchers, pathophysiology scientists, biologists, and physicists in biomedical research or bioengineering.Integrates molecular, biophysical, and clinical perspectives on lifestyle-related diseases through shared mechanisms such as inflammation, oxidative stress, and metabolic dysregulationExplains electrophysiological, cardiovascular, renal, and cellular events using mathematical and physical principles that clarify clinical signs and findingsConnects case studies and practical management strategies with underlying pathophysiology to support prevention, diagnosis, and treatment

Since its launch in 1991, the Yohkoh satellite has been returning unprecedented observations of solar flares and the dynamic solar corona. This book is a collection of papers presented at a meeting held in: Yoyogi, Tokyo, on the occasion of Yohkoh's fifth anniversary of operation. The papers constitute a summary of observations and results over the five years, including contributions based on data from Yohkoh's hard and soft X-ray telescopes and its spectrometer experiments. The five years of data, covering approximately one-half of a solar cycle, reveal a fresh perspective on solar science, with a new picture of solar flares and the active Sun emerging. Also, for the first time there are extensive results from Yohkoh observations of the Sun during the solar minimum period. This wide-ranging volume will be of interest to workers in solar physics and X-ray astronomy. It also contains material appropriate for supplemental reading for graduate students in solar physics.

The book reviews the knowledge obtained from ground-basedand space-borne solar flare research thus at the same timepreparing for the forthcoming mission of the satellite SolarA which will be launched in 1991. Accordinglyone section isdevoted to experiments on Solar A. The rest review boththeory and observational facts to give a physicallyrealistic picture of flares, including problems of magneticflux emergence, high energy particles in flares, heating andflows in flares, and further problems of solar activity.
