In diesem Band werden zwei bisher unveröffentlichte Entwürfe zur Eschatologie publiziert: eine Vorlesung des Zürcher Fundamentaltheologen Walter Mostert und eine Thesenreihe des Tübinger Systematikers Eberhard Jüngel. Sie werden ergänzt durch weitere Texte der beiden bekannten Autoren, die ebenfalls eschatologische Themen behandeln. Im Unterschied zu gegenwärtigen apokalyptischen Parolen und Aktionen, die den Untergang der Welt und das Ende der Zeit beschwören, aber auch im kritischen Gegenüber zu einem trostlosen Verstummen angesichts der Macht des Todes, kommt hier eine biblisch fundierte reformatorische Eschatologie zur Sprache, die höchst aktuell ist und es darum verdient, breit wahrgenommen zu werden.[Already now – and then even more so! Lectures – lectures – sermons]Two previously unpublished drafts on eschatology are published in this volume: a lecture by the Zurich fundamental theologian Walter Mostert and a series of theses by the Tübingen systematist Eberhard Jüngel. They are supplemented by other texts by the two well-known authors, which also deal with eschatological topics. In contrast to current apocalyptic slogans and actions that conjure up the end of the world and the end of time, but also in the critical contrast to a desolate silence in the face of the power of death, a biblically based Reformation eschatology is discussed here that is extremely current and therefore deserves to be widely recognized.

Umwelt und Okologie, bedrohliche Zukunftsszenarien und die Sorge um das friedliche Zusammenleben beschaftigen die Menschen. Wie konnen die Beschadigungen und Zerstorungen der naturlichen und sozialen Umwelt gestoppt werden?Walter Mostert (1936 1995) entfaltet eine Okologie und fragt nach der Identitat des Menschen. Anstatt bekannte Postulate und Handlungsanweisungen zu variieren, findet er echte Alternativen, die kein Teil des Problems sind, das zu losen sie vorgeben. Er denkt von Gott auf die Menschen und den Kosmos hin, an den Menschen im Verhaltnis zu Gott, seinen Mitgeschopfen (Pflanzen, Tiere, Menschen) und zu sich selbst. Wer der Mensch wirklich ist, wie der Mensch die Welt, sich selbst und Gott versteht, davon hangen Mostert zufolge sowohl das Ergehen der Menschheit als auch die Zukunft der Erde ab. How can the damage and destruction of the natural and social environment be stopped?Walter Mostert (1936 1995) develops an ecology and poses the question of human identity. He does not vary well-known postulates and instructions for action, but finds real alternatives that are not part of the problem they purport to solve. He argues from God to humanity and the cosmos, considers human beings in relation to God, to their fellow creatures (plants, animals, humans), and to themselves. According to the author, both the fate of humanity and the future of the world depend on who human beings really are and how they understand God, the earth and themselves. This outlines a path into the open.
