Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Politik ökonomischer Reformen in jungen Demokratien. Aus der Perspektive neuerer Ansätze der Policy-Forschung (Akteurzentrierter Institutionalismus, Vetospieler-Theorem, Advocacy Coalitions Framework) erfolgt in Form konfigurativer Studien die empirische Analyse der Politik ökonomischer Reformen in Argentinien, Uruguay und Thailand. Die Analyse zeigt, dass Reformpolitik durchsetzbar ist, wenn Krisen im Sinne von Windows of Opportunity Reformchancen eröffnen. Diese Gelegenheitsfenster wirken aber nur, wenn entscheidende Akteure (Vetospieler) im Sinne eines Policy-Learning ihr Verhalten ändern bzw. die reformerisch orientierten Akteure (Reformkoalition) die Reformgegner überwinden oder überzeugen können.
