The Mosaic of Autoimmunity: The Novel Factors of Autoimmune Diseases describes the multifactorial origin and diversity of expression of autoimmune diseases in humans. The term implies that different combinations of factors in autoimmunity produce varying and unique clinical pictures in a wide spectrum of autoimmune diseases. Most of the factors involved in autoimmunity can be categorized into four groups: genetic, immune defects, hormonal and environmental factors. In this book, the environmental factors are reviewed, including infectious agents, vaccines as triggers of autoimmunity, smoking and its relationship with rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, thyroid disease, multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel diseases.
An entirely new syndrome, the autoimmune/inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants (ASIA), is also included, along with other diseases that are now recognized as having an autoimmune etiopathogenesis.
Highlights the concept of the mosaic of autoimmune manifestations Includes new visions on unsuspected molecules Provides updated knowledge to physicians helping patients with autoimmune diseases Presents thorough, up-to-date information on specific diseases, along with clinical applications2 388 kr

In 2020 we lost Noel Rose, co-editor of the classic Infection and Autoimmunity. To honor and respect his work, a group of experts in the field have taken the initiative to make this book perpetual.
The third edition of Infection and Autoimmunity updates all the recent and leading papers on infection and autoimmunity, in addition to a dedicated section on to the correlation between SARS-CoV-2 infection and autoimmunity. From the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous papers have been published, including studies conducted by the editors and authors of the book, on COVID-19 and autoimmunity, and therefore this knowledge has been incorporated into this new edition. The addition and extended coverage on SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 and autoimmunity are pivotal for the third edition of the book due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Medical students and practitioners, as well as academic staff in medical schools globally, are enthusiastic in searching for better understanding of the correlation between infection and autoimmunity in general, and the long-term effects of SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 on the immunce system in particular, especially in terms of autoimmunity related to the virus.
Fully revised and updated by a global group of experts, dedicated to and in honor of Noel Rose Includes 52 completely updated chapters with the latest developments in the field Is the only book directed specifically at the interactions between infectious agents and autoimmunity Describes the prevalence and incidence of global issues and current therapeutic approaches Addresses in full, details of the mechanisms behind the emergence of autoimmune diseases secondary to infections Brings the reader up-to-date and allows easy access to individual topics in one place4 308 kr

Autoimmunity, COVID-19, Post-COVID-19 Syndrome and COVID-19 Vaccination covers all aspects of what is perhaps the most dramatic health crisis in the history of modern medicine. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) raised major concerns about the association between the virus and various autoimmune manifestations. Over 15 distinct autoantibodies and above 10 different autoimmune diseases were found to develop in COVID-19 patients. Moreover, evidence about recovered COVID-19 patients demonstrates that persistent systemic symptoms, which are believed to have an autoimmune-related mechanism, do exist.
As it is of great importance to recognize those autoimmune manifestations of COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 syndrome to properly cope with their outcomes in the ongoing pandemic and the long-term post-pandemic period, this book fulfills a vital need in the medical community.
Describe the short and long impact of COVID-19 on autoimmunity Provides understanding to the acute and chronic impact of the SARS-CoV-2 Gives insights into the long-term effects of COVID-19 on recovered patients Provides conclusions on the novel terms "chronic post-COVID-19 syndrome", "post-acute COVID-19 syndrome", and "long COVID-19"2 475 kr

Autoimmune diseases are characterized by the occurrence of antibodies reacting with self-constituents of the body. The fully updated third edition of Autoantibodies is an in-depth review of the main autoantibodies identified up to now, with particular emphasis on those that display a diagnostic or prognostic clinical value.
The new edition covers recent scientific advances, diagnostic techniques, and therapeutic technologies. Each chapter is focused on a single family of autoantibodies. This important reference contains historical notes, definitions, origins and sources of antigens recognized genetic associations, mediated pathogenic mechanisms, methods of detection, as well as clinical utility (disease prevalence and association, diagnostic value, sensitivity and specificity, prognostic value). This is an ideal reference for anyone involved in the field of autoimmune diseases.
Presents all known, important autoantibodies in a single source, focusing on the antibodies needed for autoimmune disorder diagnosis Includes clinical applications for each autoantibody along with general information Organized by disease and disorder type, by autoantibody family, and completely cross-referenced2 200 kr

Comprehensive resource on the science of autoimmune disorders, covering causes, treatment, prevention, and the latest research in the field
Autoimmune Disorders is an authoritative reference on the science of autoimmune disorders, covering their causes, including infections, vaccine adjuvants, environmental stimuli, and silicone implants, the latest research on the genetics, epigenetics, and immunology of autoimmunity, predictive markers, therapeutic approaches for treatment and prevention, and suggestions for future research directions.
This book explores the intricate connections between adjuvants and autoimmune responses, focusing on the emergence of the Autoimmune/Inflammatory Syndrome Induced by Adjuvants (ASIA syndrome), as well as autoimmune connections in areas such as chronic fatigue syndrome, autoantibodies targeting the autonomic system, and small fiber neuropathy. The authors emphasize the profound impact of vaccines on public health, underscoring that their benefits far outweigh potential side effects and exploring the historical context of adjuvants in vaccine development. From tattoos to environmental factors, each chapter adds a unique thread to the tapestry of adjuvants, autoimmune responses, and their interactions.
Sample topics covered in Autoimmune Disorders include:
Food additives and dental implants as a trigger of autoimmunity and increased risk of ASIA syndrome as a result of the chemical and social factors Sustained immune activation in ASIA syndrome as a bridge to lymphomagenesis and how immune checkpoints, metals, and bisphenol connect to autoimmunity Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia syndrome (POTS), Sick Building syndrome, and Gulf War syndrome (GWS) as parts of ASIA syndrome Sarcoidosis and Sjögren’s syndrome as a proof of concept of hyperstimulation syndromeAutoimmune Disorders is an essential reference on the subject for academics, specialized postgraduate students, and practicing professionals seeking to improve integrated research strategies and foster a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between immunology, public health, and individual well-being.

According to the Autoimmune Diseases Coordinating Committee (ADCC), between 14.7 and 23.5 million people in the USA – up to eight percent of the population are affected by autoimmune disease. Autoimmune diseases are a family of more than 100 chronic, and often disabling, illnesses that develop when underlying defects in the immune system lead the body to attack its own organs, tissues, and cells. In Handbook of Autoimmune Disease, the editors have gathered in a comprehensive handbook a critical review, by renowned experts, of more than 100 autoimmune diseases, divided into two main groups, namely systemic and organ-specific autoimmune diseases. A contemporary overview of these conditions with special emphasis on diagnosis is presented. Each chapter contains the essential information required by attending physicians as well as bench scientists to understand the definition of a specific autoimmune disease, the diagnostic criteria, and the treatment.
