Cultural History of Poverty

Steven M. Beaudoin is Ewing T. Boles Professor of History and Chair of the Division of Social Studies at Centre College, USA. He is the author of Poverty in World History (2006), which was recently translated into Chinese and is soon to be translated into Turkish, and The Industrial Revolution (2003).Richard D. Axtell is Emeritus Professor of Religion at Centre College of Kentucky, USA, where he taught for 30 years. Axtell also taught at the UNESCO International MA Program in Peace and Development Studies at Universitat Jaume I, Castellon, Spain. He was Director of Louisville United Against Hunger and case manager with unhoused men in Louisville, publishing on day labor, public housing and homelessness. Axtell's lifelong study of poverty, development, and violence includes experience in 20 developing countries.
