First IEP

An ideal first step in the IEP process, this DVD facilitates collaboration between professionals and parents as they help young children make the critical transition from early intervention to preschool. Perfect for guiding parents and training new and future practitioners, this encouraging, unintimidating resource answers common questions and concerns about IEPs, gives viewers an accurate picture of the process, and promotes dialogue between families and professionals. Viewers will: learn from mothers who've been there as they discuss their child's special needs, their IEP preparation, and how they got the results they wanted; watch parent/professional collaboration at work as a mother meets with an early interventionist to talk about what to expect and how to prepare; and see a successful IEP in action with a simulation of an IEP meeting for a boy with multiple disabilities and illustrative followup clips of the child in his new preschool. A must for early childhood programs and for practitioners in training, this engaging and informative DVD helps parents and new professionals come together to ensure the best possible transitions for young children.
