Different models have been created by various cultures, societies, and individuals about what is right and what is wrong, what can be accepted and what cannot, and what is supposed to be good and what is supposed to be evil. Religions, laws written and unwritten, philosophies, psychologists, and other concepts and institutions presented numerous answers to this question. It has also been addressed directly and indirectly in folklore and countless literary works. This paper will discuss these representations and discuss the differences and similarities.

Diploma Thesis from the year 2014 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: 10/10, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, course: English Literature and Popular Culture, language: English, abstract: This thesis is a study of fantasy literature as a genre of popular contemporary literature; a genre usually considered as low culture, especially within the academic world. Being a fan of this literary genre myself, I try not only to defend it through this paper but also to argue for a general cultural democracy. In my opinion both low culture and high culture belong to the general notion of culture; whether they are liked and preferred by few or by many people, they deserve to be respected. My aim is to examine fantasy literature from many angles in order to figure out how it makes its appeal and why. To be specific and explain my argument the best way possible, I analyze specific works of fantasy literature as examples. The books I chose to work with are J.R.R. Tolkien s trilogy Lord of the Rings and J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter series. Furthermore Science Fiction is briefly discussed in order to look into the differences and similarities between these two genres and clarify the controversial distinction between them. Before proceeding to the main body of the paper, I consider necessary a brief introduction to the blurred and controversial notions of cultural studies and popular culture.

This publication – Current Approaches to Roman Frontiers – is the first volume of the LIMES XXV’s congress proceedings arranged around the original sessions, in order to form coherent thematical collections that make the vast output more accessible to generalists and specialists alike. This volume starts with a recap of the congress. Regarding the themes it deals with a contemporary feminist approach; new digital methodologies and computational modelling; three themes on archaeological heritage management dealing inter alia with preservation, protection, citizen science and World Heritage aspects, and a comparison between the Roman Limes and the Great Wall of China. It ends with an overview of the sessions and lectures of the congress in Nijmegen.Frontiers are zones, or lines, of contact and coercion, of exchange and exclusion. As such they often express some of the most typical elements of the socio-political spaces that are defined by them. Spanning some 6,000 km along rivers, mountain ranges, artificial barriers and fringes of semi-desert, the frontiers of the Roman empire offer a wide variety of avenues and topics for a very diverse community of scholars. They are the central subject of the International Congress of Roman Frontier Studies (or just Limes Congress after the Latin word for ‘border’), organised every three years since 1949\. This four-volume publication contains most of the papers presented at the 25th edition which was hosted by the municipality of Nijmegen in August 2022.

Se analizaron los factores que intervienen en la incidencia de esta enfermedad, y se estudió el efecto de un programa de educación para la salud en las mujeres de la zona de Turubamba del Distrito Metropolitano de Quito, como una herramienta para alcanzar las competencias relevantes y enfrentar eficientemente a esta enfermedad catastrófica.Los objetivos de su difusión son: demostrar que la educación para la salud es imprescindible en todo programa preventivo, evidenciar que es factible implementar un programa a nivel local y replicar esta herramienta tan importante para la salud pública actual.
