Nanocellulose for Water Purification

Sabu Thomas is a Professor and Director of the International and Interuniversity Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, India. Professor Thomas is internationally recognized for his contributions to polymer science and engineering, with his research interests encompassing polymer nanocomposites, elastomers, polymer blends, interpenetrating polymer networks, polymer membranes, green composites, nanocomposites, nanomedicine, and green nanotechnology. His groundbreaking inventions in polymer nanocomposites, polymer blends, green bionanotechnology, and nano-biomedical sciences have significantly advanced the development of new materials for the automotive, space, housing, and biomedical fields.Dr. Pasquini graduated in Chemistry from the Federal University of Uberlândia in 1998. He earned his master's degree in Physicochemical Sciences in 2000 and his PhD in Physicochemical Sciences in 2004 from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He completed a PhD internship in 2003 and a postdoctoral fellowship in 2005 at the École Française de Papeterie et des Industries Graphiques in Grenoble, France. From 2004 to 2008, Dr. Pasquini served as the coordinator of the Research and Development Group in Paints at AW Faber-Castell SA. He was an Assistant Researcher at the University of Aveiro's CICECO - Center for Research in Ceramic and Composite Materials between 2008 and 2009. Currently, he is a Professor at the Chemistry Institute of the Federal University of Uberlândia, Brazil, where he has coordinated the Postgraduate Program in Biofuels.Dr. Pasquini is actively involved in projects related to the valorization and chemical modification of plant macromolecules, as well as the development of new materials derived from renewable sources. His research focuses on applications such as polymer materials, composites, nanocomposites, nanofibers, spherical nanoparticles, and membranes.Dr. Cintil Jose Chirayil is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Newman College, India. She is an expert in nanocellulose and its applications, with a strong background in functionalized cellulose nanocrystals and nanocellulose-based aerogels. Her research encompasses sustainable packaging, drug delivery systems, and advanced coatings, demonstrating her commitment to addressing environmental challenges.Dr. Ajitha A. Ramachandran's extensive research and expertise in polymer blends, nanocomposites, and hybrid nanomaterials position her as an ideal editor for a book on nanocellulose-based adsorbents for water purification. Her work, particularly on EMI shielding studies of thermoplastic/polyester/CNT blend nanocomposites, showcases her proficiency in developing advanced materials with tailored properties for specific applications. Her notable publications in high-impact journals and her experience in editing books such as "Compatibilization of Polymer Blends" and "Polymer Blend Nanocomposites for Energy Storage Applications" highlight her capability to synthesize and present complex scientific information effectively.
