      Dr. Yasmin Khambhaty holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology, from Bhavnagar University, Gujarat, India, specializing in seaweed polysaccharide-degrading enzymes from marine bacteria. She has specifically worked on agarase and carrageenase from marine bacteria for their eventually industrial application. This work led to one US patent and three publication ins SCI journals. Since joining CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, she has been actively involved in R&D activities focused on microbial intervention during leather making. With 50 research papers published in indexed journals including SCI, three granted patents, and five book chapters, Dr. Yasmin’s research primarily explores microbial metabolites (enzymes, antibiotics, pigments) for industrial applications, microbial waste treatment, the degradability assessment of leather and its products, and cleaner processing.
