    Beskrivning

There are many activity manuals on the market today but this publication is the first to offer a clear guideline on exactly what constitutes good practice in activity provision. Written by the National Association for Providers of Activities for Older People (NAPA), a charity whose remit is to set standards and disseminate knowledge of good practice in activity provision and to support activity providers who work in care settings for older people, this guide offers: a model of good practice in one concise volume; a benchmark against which activity providers can measure and evaluate their practice; clear links to current national standards; guidance for care home owners and managers who wish to respond to the recent government initiatives on providing activities for their clients; and a call for clinical governance in the emerging 'profession' of activity provision.

    Recensioner i media

"This is a long overdue publication and I would suggest a very necessary tool for care home owners/managers who are struggling with meeting their obligations under the Care Standards Act, with some very useful information for the activity practitioner." Vicki Dent, occupational therapist with the elderly "...this book attempts to provide a statement of good practice for activity organizers. It provides a resource for further reading and useful addresses". Nursing & Residential Care "There are some excellent chapters, both practical and theoretical, and I would recommend all homes to buy - and read, and use! [this book]." - Caring Times "The guide describes how to devise and implement an individual goal plan for each person, how to utilise resources (including volunteers and relatives), education and staff development, and how to use specialist skills such as those of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and services for people with a visual or language impairment." - Information Bulletin "..this book attempts to provide a statement of good practice for activity organisers. It provides a statement of good practice for activity organisers. It provides a resource for further reading and useful addresses."- Julie Swann, Independent Occupational Therapist, Nursing & Residential Care "It is accessibly written and presented."- Care and Health "It's a manual of good practice that presents a standard against which those who are providing activity can measure and evaluate what they are doing." - Nursing and care Home Business "There are many activity orientated books available but this book attempts to provide a statement of good practice for activity organizers and a benchmark against which activity provision can be measured and evaluated.' - Julie Swann, Independent Occupational Therapist, Nursing and Residential Care
