Beskrivning
This book describes and analyzes the diversity of rural areas, rural political participation, and public policy, capturing the complexity and nuance of rural politics in America. Employing a variety of qualitative and quantitative methodologies to explore topics including migrant farm workers, reproductive rights, vote by mail, broadband access, and rural consciousness, the contributors pave new ground for the study of the rural—urban divide in America. Part 1 highlights the diversity of rural America, Part 2 provides an in-depth look at rural voting behavior and political participation, and Part 3 considers the differential impact of public policies in rural areas. Offering a rich variety of empirical cases and entry points for discussion, this book is highly suitable for upper-division undergraduate and graduate seminars on American politics, state and local politics and public policy. It is also an important read for political science and public policy scholars.
