Translating Human Inner Life In and Between the Arts

Malgorzata Gamrat is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Arts Studies at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Poland.

Malgorzata Gamrat has brought together here some remarkable researches on the transposition of inner life into the arts, against the backdrop of a common semiotic concept: translation. If we consider that the arts translate inner life, this means that it already has a semiotic form, which can be transposed into artistic expressions. The issue is the production of new cultural meanings. And Lotman has taught us that the more difficult the translation, the richer the meaning.
