You might think it is irrelevant to shooting, but you would be wrong. Let's take stalking — it brings just as many dangers as backpacking, perhaps even more. It's really worth knowing how to build a shelter when you find yourself stuck and unable to return to the safety of civilisation. Definitely a book worth having if you're an adventurous person.
