Science is good, new knowledge and discoveries are fascinating, but the history of science is filled with dogmas dressed up as science. The response to new discoveries or new ideas is often to disparage the new ideas as being anti-science. Things that don't fit have to be hidden. We see this in the debates about climate change today, where evidence and data are deliberately kept away from discussions to avoid allowing the public to doubt the dogma and the priesthood (and money) behind it. A similar story has developed with intelligent design (ID), with similar methods of preventing God having any foothold in science. Over the years since Behe's first book, the dogma police have attempted to squash ID at every turn. Behe has responded to every challenge, but his detractors don't. Dogma rules, because naturalism is the god of scientism, an atheistic religion of sorts. Behe's challenges remain unanswered, partly because so many simply know he is right but value their careers more than truth - not very scientific but necessarily pragmatic (Not every hill is a hill to die on, especially when you have a family to support). Behe has written this book to show the responses he has had to his previous books, so there is a lot of repetition for readers who read the first books. The interesting part for those of use who read the first books is to see the ridiculous attempts by scientism to refute actual science, and to demonise anyone who dares to allow it to breathe. From debates to articles in esteemed journals, the challenge to keep the foot of a designer out of the door becomes very evident.
