Birdstones

Birdstones, small prehistoric stone sculptures shaped by Native Americans, are known for their simplicity and beauty. Mythical objects of the first art collections, these zoomorphic artefacts maintain similarities with the European prehistoric art, but also with the genesis of the sculpture of the 20th century. Through this unprecedented book Éric Genuese and Éric Mickeler, specialists in Native American art, chart the origin, the functions and the lapidary techniques of this old art of the American Indians of the North. Text in English and French.
