Food waste has traditionally been approached from the perspective of economics and ecological damage. This book adds an underexplored dimension, religious beliefs, ethics and cultural practices and their influence on consumer behaviour. From a detailed study of 1000 households, this book analyses consumer behaviour across the acts of planning, shopping, storing, preparing and, finally, consuming food. In this way, readers are provided with a linear and comprehensible path through the process of food waste generation, and an exploration of the situations which lead to food waste, all with the added lens of the religious and cultural practices highlighted in the survey responses. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, including management and religious studies, the book will be of great interest to students and scholars of food waste, sustainable management and consumer behaviour.

Dženan Kulović is Associate Professor in the Department of Management at the Faculty of Economics, University of Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He serves as the Head of the Management Study Program at the University of Zenica. Throughout his academic career, he has taught at the Universities of Sarajevo, Tuzla, and Mostar.Nedžad Grabus is Professor at the Department of Aqeedah, Sufism, and Comparative Religion at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He serves as the Mufti of Sarajevo within the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Throughout his academic career, he has taught at the Universities of Ljubljana, Zagreb, and Bihać.
