In 2010, Dr. Tiryakioğlu became the director of the School of Engineering at the University of North Florida. During his eight year leadership, enrollment in engineering programs tripled while all engineering programs made significant gains in national rankings. Despite his heavy administrative duties, Dr. Tiryakioğlu managed to find time for research, advising master’s theses and publishing papers. In 2019, he was approached by Jacksonville University (JU) to help with STEM, especially engineering programs. He joined JU as the Executive Vice President for STEM and led the efforts to overhaul engineering and computing programs in alignment with the needs of local companies. Currently, Dr. Tiryakioğlu is a professor of engineering, teaching undergraduate courses while collaborating with colleagues all over the world in research projects.Dr. Tiryakioğlu is the recipient of the Inaugural John Campbell Medal from the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers (ICME), M. Eugene Merchant Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and Young Leader Award from TMS. He is a Fellow of ICME.
