Gregor Wedekind ist Professor für Kunstgeschichte der Moderne und der Gegenwart an der Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. Er wurde 995 an der TU Berlin mit einer Dissertation zu Paul Klees Inventionen promoviert und habilitierte dort 2 8 mit einer Schrift zu Strategien der Mimesis im Werk von Théodore Géricault. Forschungsschwerpunkte: Kunst und Theorie der (Klassischen) Moderne Europäische Romantik Geschichte und Theorie der Mimesis Künstlermythos Genieästhetik Stadt–Bild und urbaner Raum Kunst und Psychiatrie.
